Quality Waterproofing Trucks

Quality Waterproofing was originally started by the Bigelow family in 1955 to help meet the demands of expanding homebuilding business after World War II. Our first location was in the heart of the area now known as The Grove District in South St. Louis City. Back then, the asphalt based damp-proofing product was packaged in 5-gallon buckets and applied by hand to the exterior of foundation walls to deter water from seeping in through the wall.

In 1970, the Leniger family purchased the business, and in 1980 the company outgrew its original headquarters, and moved to a new location in Valley Park in search of more space. As the company continued to expand its services and waterproofing technologies improved, Quality Waterproofing became one of the first companies in the country to utilize a spray applied waterproofing system in order to provide a more consistent and effective product, and was also quick to embrace an industry-changing product called Owens Corning Tuff N Dri, which was the most advanced waterproofing product on the market at the time.

Soon after, when confronted with the problem of trying to efficiently cover drain tile with clean gravel around the perimeter of a building to ensure proper drainage for its waterproofing systems, Quality Waterproofing continued to innovate by purchasing the 1st gravel shooter truck of its kind in St. Louis in 1994. Very quickly, Quality Waterproofing discovered many other uses for the gravel shooter trucks, including spreading mulch, sand, and soil for residential and commercial jobs. That’s when our sister company, Gravelshooters, was formed.

For nearly 20 years, Quality Waterproofing called Valley Park home, and in the late 1990’s the company’s continued growth and the addition of the Gravelshooters brand forced it to move once again, this time to a nearly 10,000 square foot facility in Pacific, MO.

After many years in the business, John Leniger retired in 2011 and the business was purchased by the Stegmann family who had become familiar with the company and was impressed by the legacy of Quality Waterproofing’s wonderful team of people (some of which have worked with the company for nearly 30 years!), and their continued passion for tremendous service at a fair price.

In the spring of 2016, Quality Waterproofing continued its pattern of growth by purchasing the assets of a company that had vast experience in piering and concrete raising over many years in and around the St. Louis area, triggering the need for even more space. As a result, in the summer of 2016, Quality Waterproofing expanded into a 22,000 SF facility at 200 S Elam Avenue in Valley Park, MO where we are now located.
