Polyjacking vs. Mudjacking
Mudjacking was the go-to method for fixing sunken concrete slabs for a long time. But now, there's something even better.
You know how technology keeps getting better? Think about how much our phones, cars, and computers have evolved over the years. The same thing goes for concrete lifting. Mudjacking was the go-to method for fixing sunken concrete slabs for a long time. But now, there's something even better—Polyjacking. It works similarly but with a modern twist, making it more efficient and less of a hassle. Let’s dive into why polyjacking is the way to go for lifting your concrete slabs.
1. Materials Matter
With mudjacking, we’re talking about a mixture of mud and cement. It’s effective, but it can be messy, and let’s be honest—who wants that? Polyjacking, on the other hand, uses polyurethane, which is cleaner and easier on the soil. Plus, it takes less material to get the job done.
2. Less Mess, Less Stress
Raising concrete involves drilling holes into the slab—no way around that. But with mudjacking, we have to drill larger holes, about 1 inch in diameter, and use a ton of that mud-cement mix. Polyjacking is way less invasive. We only need to drill small holes, around 5/8th of an inch, and use much less material to lift your slab back into place.
3. Soil-Friendly Solution
Mudjacking adds a lot of weight to the soil, which can actually cause the slab to sink again over time. Polyurethane is much lighter and won’t burden the soil as much, so it’s less likely to cause future problems. Plus, it’s kinder to the surrounding environment, like your plants and lawn.
4. Quick and Convenient
One of the biggest perks of polyjacking is how fast it works. The mud mixture used in mudjacking can take up to three days to fully cure, which means you’ve got to avoid using that area for a while. Polyurethane reaches its full strength in just about an hour, so you can get back to your routine in no time.
